Online Gambling Regulation System Made by Web Portals
By Eric Marsh, Sep 26th 2007
Some search engine companies like AOL and Yahoo! have taken their first steps into the online gambling world. The first web portal partnered first with a sports gambling company and the second has launched a poker portal. However, if we consider the importance of their role in the online gambling industry, we can say that these are not really first steps.
Now, having a huge web portal such as Google enter the online gambling industry, many will discuss the positive impact in regards to the regulation of the online gambling business.
Online gamblers get in touch with online casinos through many ways. An example of such methods are email or banners across the Internet. Online gamblers reach online casinos also through recommendations posted at forums, chat rooms and blogs, using specific and professional online casino portals or from search results on Google and other web portals.
Using search patterns of online gamblers, web portals could filter online casino sites and regulate them during the search. By itself, the search engine is competent enough to regulate online gambling, a much needed solution that some governments such as the one in the US are not eager to do. As an alternative, they chose to ban online gambling transactions leaving it to potentially corrupt operators.
Online casino sites with many visitors and good reviews can be observed by web portals which will get linked to other gambling sites and portals around the online gambling world. Unreliable online casino sites will then fall off the search results and not be linked to other sites listed on these search engines. This is a natural selection/regulation system that worked well until the US got involved.
