The big search engines are important
It is sometimes true that the more you submit your website to different search engines the more visitors you will have, but in most cases, it is not. In reality from all the search engines that are supposed to send you visitors only the big ones are doing it. The rest only claim to do it, and send false information. The so called web surfers interested in your site are in fact webmasters submitting their URL. Most of the so called search engines are nothing but advanced FFA pages.
If you plan on submitting to search engines do it to the top 15, because the rest of them are useless. You might have seen commercials to different search engines offered in bunch. You pay a certain amount of money, and your site will be submitted to hundreds of search engines. Don’t do it, because it’s just money thrown away, money which could be used on other forms of advertising your site.
The top 10 search engines represent 93% of the entire search engine traffic. The hundreds of useless search engines represent the remaining percents, because the 11th - 15th biggest search engines do most of the work. These are the top 3 and the most important search engines:
Google – the biggest of them all
Google is for certain the number one search engine on the internet. The quality is superior to other search engines, and Google also provides the secondary results at Yahoo, so there shouldn’t be any doubts about Google’s position in our top.
Even if there is a competition between keywords at Google, you can still get very easy well-ranked. At www.google.com/addurl.html you can submit to Google.
Yahoo - the runner up
MSN – third spot
